Frequently Asked Questions

A: The best time for a natural light photography session in Tahiti is during the "golden hour," the 60-minute window just after sunrise or just before sunset.

Because I specialize in natural light, avoiding the harsh midday sun is essential for capturing authentic skin tones and the vibrant colors of the Polynesian landscape. Midday light creates deep, unflattering facial shadows and washes out the lagoon. Early morning sessions offer the quietest beaches and calmest waters, while evening sessions provide dramatic, warm-toned island sunsets perfect for high-end portraits.

A: Yes, Atea Photography offers specialized 15-Minute Mini Sessions, which are fast-paced, highly directed shoots located at specific local beaches in Tahiti.

These sessions are engineered for clients who want professional, high-end portraits without dedicating half their vacation day to a full shoot. By batching these sessions efficiently, we deliver the same editorial quality and professional guidance in a fraction of the time, making it the perfect low-friction option for couples and families.

A: The ideal wardrobe for a Tahiti beach shoot consists of lightweight, breathable fabrics in colors that specifically match your personal seasonal color profile and skin undertones.

Instead of asking everyone to wear generic matching white shirts, we leverage professional image consulting principles. Selecting tones that harmonize with your natural complexion—whether that means earthy tones, soft pastels, or rich jewel tones—makes your skin glow against the tropical backdrop. This attention to color analysis is what elevates a standard vacation photo into a high-end fashion or family portrait.

A: The best locations for professional photography in Tahiti include the black sand beaches of the East Coast for dramatic fashion contrast, and the white sand of PK18 (Plage de Vaiava) for classic tropical family portraits.

The location you choose dictates the entire aesthetic of the shoot. Black volcanic sand provides a moody, editorial background that makes vibrant wardrobe colors pop. Conversely, the western beaches offer calm, shallow lagoons and stunning sunset backdrops over the island of Moorea.

A: For a 15-Minute Mini Session, you will receive 4 professionally edited photos within a maximum of two weeks, delivered via a private online gallery.

You have the option to upgrade and purchase the full gallery, which typically contains 30 to 40 images. For clients seeking a more extensive experience and a larger photo package, I also offer full-length standard photography sessions. Your private online gallery will remain active for three months, giving you ample time to download your high-resolution images.

A: We will continue to shoot through light, passing tropical rain, as the cloud cover often acts as a natural diffuser and creates beautifully soft light.

However, if the sky is dark, gray, and gloomy, we will either reschedule your session based on availability or offer a full refund. Tropical weather changes quickly, so we monitor the conditions closely leading up to your shoot to ensure the best possible lighting for your portraits.

A: Clients are required to meet me directly at the chosen photo shoot location, whether that is Plage de Vaiava (PK 18) or the black sand beaches of the East Coast.

Whether you are renting a car or taking a taxi from your resort, I will provide exact GPS coordinates and specific meeting instructions prior to the session to ensure a seamless arrival.

A: I recommend booking your session at least seven days in advance to secure your preferred date and golden hour time slot.

However, I gladly accept last-minute bookings at no extra charge, provided there is availability in my schedule. If you are already on the island and decide you want to capture your trip with a Mini Session or standard shoot, please reach out directly to check my current availability.
